THE 1274 STORY
In 1892, Albert H. Weinbrenner opened his first cobblery in Milwaukee, WI, planting the seeds for what would become Thorogood®. Today, Thorogood upholds its long heritage in the state, manufacturing out of Central Wisconsin and headquartered in the community of Merrill.
On March 22nd, 2017, that community was struck by tragedy, when a gunman shot and killed four people in the neighboring town of Rothschild. Among those lost was Detective Jason Weiland of the Everest Metro Police Department, an 18-year law enforcement veteran. He was shot while establishing a perimeter during a standoff with the gunman, who had already taken three lives that day.
Since 1999, Weiland had dedicated his life to serving the people in Marathon County, WI as a law enforcement officer. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Thorogood’s 1274 Series boot honors Detective Jason Weiland and all fallen officers by donating a portion of proceeds to C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors), a national non-profit organization providing support to surviving family members, significant others, and affected co-workers of police officers killed in the line of duty.
The boot was named as a tribute to Detective Weiland’s bravery,
after his badge number: 1274.
The 1274 Series is designed to provide all-day, lightweight comfort and multi-terrain flexibility for law enforcement outside of tactical situations.
